Adding an Email to a Guest Player

How to associate a real email with a no-email guest, and what changes for that player once you do.

What is a no-email guest?

When you add a player to a tournament without entering an email address, The Club House creates a guest member record that is bound to your club only. This player has no login, no account, and no way to receive notifications. Their history exists, but it is managed entirely by you.

You can edit their name and profile photo at any time from the Members page. But because there is no account attached, no one else can claim or manage that record.

When should you add an email?

  • The player has now signed up to The Club House and you want their past results to show on their profile.
  • You originally added them without an email and they are ready to take ownership of their history.
  • You want the player to receive invitations and notifications going forward.

What happens when you add an email

The platform checks whether an account already exists for that email address.

  • If an account exists β€” the guest history in this club is transferred to that user. They become a full club member.
  • If no account exists β€” an invitation is sent to that email address. Once they accept, the guest history is linked to their new account.

In both cases, the guest record is replaced by a proper member entry and all tournament history in the club is preserved.

How to add an email to a guest

  1. Go to Members in your club.
  2. Find the guest player. They will have a GUEST tag and show no email address.
  3. Click the Β·Β·Β· menu and choose Edit guest profile.
  4. Check the Associate to an email option.
  5. Enter the player's email address.
  6. Click Save and convert.

What changes after this step

  • The guest is now treated as a real user β€” their profile is managed by their own account.
  • The Edit guest profile option will no longer appear for that member.
  • All tournament history in the club is preserved and linked to the new account.
  • If you entered a new email, an invitation is sent automatically.

What you can still do before adding an email

While a player remains a no-email guest, you can freely update their name and profile photo from the Members page. No other profile changes are available β€” and only club owners and admins can access the edit option.
