Tournaments

Creating a Tournament

What is required when you create a tournament and how plan checks are applied.

Required tournament setup

When you create a tournament you choose the league, name, location, start time, buy-in, places paid, starting stack, and blind structure.

Name

Use a clear event name so players can recognise the tournament in league history and registrations.

Location

The location is stored with the event and helps distinguish recurring games played at different venues.

Start Time

This controls scheduling and the displayed event time, including the public registration experience when registration is open.

Buy-in, Places Paid, and Starting Stack

These shape the tournament economics and initial payout setup before live play begins.

Start with the basics

The create tournament form is designed to get the event created quickly with the core details you need to get started.

What you can configure later

After the tournament is created, you can open the tournament settings and configure more advanced options such as payout setup, tournament admins, rebuy and add-on settings, registration controls, sound settings, and other live-management options.

League is required

Every tournament belongs to a league. There is no standalone tournament outside a league.

Blind structure source

You can start from a blank structure, a global template, or a saved club template.

Helpful defaults

When a tournament is created, payout rounding is enabled by default. If you choose a paid-place count, the app also generates an initial payout structure automatically so you are not starting from an empty state.

If you use a layout template, the tournament can also inherit the selected layout immediately. If you do not choose one, the app can fall back to the league default layout template when available.

Free plan rules

Free accounts can create tournaments only in the club's current default league.

Active tournament limit

The limit that matters most operationally is active tournaments per league:

  • Free β€” 1 active tournament per league
  • Premium β€” unlimited active tournaments per league
  • Enterprise β€” unlimited

An active tournament is one with status OPEN or RUNNING.
