Seating, Tables, and Player Caps

How seating works and which limits apply to tables and players.

Table setup

The seating system lets you create tables, assign seats, auto-seat players, and manage seating changes while the tournament is in progress.

What seating is for

Use seating to turn a list of registered players into a live table plan. It helps you decide where everyone sits, keep tables balanced as players bust out, and stay organised when the room changes during the event.

Before the tournament starts

Create the tables you need, decide how many seats each table should have, and get players into seats before the first hand.

While the tournament is running

Move players, unseat late arrivals, reserve seats, break tables, or build a final table as the event gets smaller.

For organisers and staff

The seating view gives hosts and trusted staff a single place to manage the room instead of tracking changes manually.

For larger events

As more tables are added, seating becomes the tool that keeps the tournament orderly and easy to adjust.

Typical seating flow

  1. Create one or more tables.
  2. Choose how many seats each table should have.
  3. Register the players for the tournament.
  4. Auto-seat everyone or place players manually.
  5. Adjust seating as the tournament changes.
  6. Break tables and consolidate players when the field gets smaller.
  7. Create the final table when you are down to the last group of players.

Common seating actions

  • Create tables and seats β€” build the table layout for the event.
  • Auto-seat players β€” let the app place registered players for you.
  • Seat players manually β€” place players yourself when you want a specific arrangement.
  • Move players β€” shift a player to a different seat or table when you need to balance the room.
  • Unseat or late-seat players β€” handle players who arrive late or need to be taken out of a seat without eliminating them.
  • Reserve seats β€” hold a seat when you want to keep it for a specific player or table decision.
  • Break tables β€” move players off a table and collapse it when the field gets smaller.
  • Create the final table β€” consolidate the remaining players into a final-table setup.

Table management

Each table also has its own management controls. These are useful when you need to work table by table instead of changing the whole seating layout at once.

  • Table status β€” mark a table as active, closing, or closed.
  • Lock a table β€” stop players being moved in or out while you keep that table stable.
  • Open the table view β€” manage a specific table in more detail.
  • Assign table admins β€” give trusted staff table-level permissions where your plan allows it.

Free

Limited to 1 table per tournament and 9 players per tournament.

Premium and Enterprise

Remove the table and player caps for larger events and more flexible seating.

Additional admin tools

If you want table-level staff controls, see the separate article on Table Management and Table Admins for the full list of delegated permissions and actions.

If you hit a plan limit while adding tables or players, the app will show an upgrade prompt explaining which cap you reached.
